It’s the best time to be a fan of costumed superheroes, and a good number of us probably love Tokusatsu as much as we enjoy the number of big budget superhero flicks Hollywood is throwing at us. Now what would happen if Toei or Tsuburaya joined forces with Marvel Studios and Warner Brothers?
Here’s a list of five possible crossovers we’d love to see:
5. Gavan/Iron Man
Tony Stark is best known as the armoured Avenger and the invincible Iron Man. Wearing a suit of hi-tech armour he created himself, he fights along side The Avengers to defend the Earth. In essence, Iron Man qualifies as a Metal Hero, so we thought giving Stark the Granium particle-based combat suit from Uchuu Keiji Gavan would be a pretty cool sight to behold. As Gavan, Stark would have access to weapons and technology out of this world like the Super Dimensional Highspeed Ship Dolgiran and the Laser Blade.
4. Ultraman/The Incredible Hulk
While conducting experiments, Dr. Bruce Banner was exposed to high levels of gamma radiation which eventually turned him into the big green smashing creature known as the Incredible Hulk, a creature of limitless strength. What if he was instead exposed to Specium Rays, and transformed into Ultraman?
3. Spiderman/Spider-man
Nerdy scientist Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and was given spider-like powers which include wall-crawling, superhuman strength, speed and agility and a peculiar ‘Spider Sense’ that warns him of imminent danger. What if the spider that bit Peter was an alien spider known as Garia, the last surviving warrior of Planet Spider? After inheriting the spider powers, Peter will also receive the space warship named the “Marveller” that can transform into the giant robot Leopardon.
2. Kamen Rider Knight/Batman
As a child, Bruce Wayne witnessed the murder of his parents and swore to avenge their deaths by dedicating his life to fighting crime in Gotham City as Batman, nicknamed the Dark Knight. What if Bruce’s bat outfit was a result of signing a contract with the Advent Monster Dark Wing? He would then be known as Masked Rider Knight.
1. Kamen Rider ZX/Ant-Man
Scott Lang saves the day as the tiny Avenger known as Ant-Man, using a chemical substance (Pym Particles) that would allows him to alter his size. Armed with a helmet that could control ants, Lang would shrink down to the size of an insect but retain his regular size strength.
What if Scott was instead turned into a cyborg by an evil organisation and given the powers to shrink into the size of an ant to infiltrate government installations and assassinate political figure heads but broke free before they could erase his memories? Scott Lang could have been saving the world as Kamen Rider.
