Why We Need More Tokusatsu Web Series
Previous Review: Saban's Power Rangers (2017)
A combined fan screening for Saban’s Power Rangers was held at Cathay Cineleisure on the movie’s opening weekend, joined by a very Special Guest in Jason Chan, who played Cam/the Green Samurai Ranger in Power Rangers Ninja Storm.
Co-organised by TokuCos Singapore, Kamen Rider/Super Sentai (Singapore) and some of us at tokuAsia, this was the first time a Tokusatsu-themed event had been held in Singapore, and also the first time all three fan communities came together to organise a combined community event.
About 120 people attended the screening, and were pleasantly surprised when they realised that a former Power Ranger was amongst the audience. Attending with his wife, Chan expressed his appreciation for the Power Rangers fanbase and was also happy to oblige to the numerous requests for photos from members of the audience before and after the movie.
Many thanks to those who came and supported our event. The organisers hope that the success of the event puts the community in good stead to organise or collaborate on future events. Pooling together manpower and resources was no easy feat, and even though there were some hiccups, they were nothing major and the event went on successfully, with everyone in the audience enjoying the movie and basking in the fun that is basically “Power Rangers”.
