The mythology of Kamen Rider begins. The long rumoured name and mouse motif of Kamen Rider My-Th (pronounced “mice”) have been officially confirmed, with Toei and TV Asahi releasing a new key visual and teaser video for the next mainline Kamen Rider series. My-Th takes over the Sunday 9am slot on TV Asahi from the currently airing Kamen Rider Zeztz when it premieres in September 2026.
A mouse takes centre stage
The title was first announced back on 3 April 2026, Kamen Rider Day and the franchise’s 55th anniversary, and both the name and the mouse motif had been the subject of rumours long before that. The new key visual finally puts the speculation to rest: Kamen Rider My-Th sports a silver body with clear blue eyes, and his motif is indeed a mouse, a first for a lead Rider in the series’ 55 year history.

The suit itself rewards a closer look. My-Th’s helmet shares a similar design sense with Kamen Rider Geats, another silver faced Rider, but where Geats favoured straight, sharp edges, My-Th’s are noticeably more curved. Those curved pieces protruding from the helmet are almost certainly meant to represent mouse ears, and we are struggling to recall another Rider with curved armour parts sticking out in quite this manner. It may well be a first for the franchise.
It is hard not to read the mouse motif as a deliberate homage to the original Kamen Rider, another hero based on a small, unassuming creature who went on to become a legend. Toei leans into that idea with its explanation of the title: My-Th is mere fiction, a being that supposedly does not exist, who becomes the sole hope carving out the future and eventually a mythological existence. The teaser’s tagline drives it home: “Awakening from a Century’s Slumber. People’s wishes endure, and a falling star becomes a MYTH.”
Cat and mouse, literally
Naturally, a mouse Rider needs natural predators, and My-Th gets two. The key visual pits him against a pair of cat themed secondary Riders: the red Kamen Rider Maou and the black Kamen Rider Rid. Whether they are villains, rivals or something more complicated remains to be seen, but a literal game of cat and mouse is a delightfully simple hook for a Rider series.

A franchise first below (and above) the belt
Here is the detail that has fans talking. My-Th continues the chest mounted belt design introduced by Zeztz, wearing his transformation belt, the My-Th Driver, on his chest. The two secondary Riders are a different story: unlike My-Th, Maou and Rid wear their belts on their waists, where Rider belts have traditionally sat. According to Toei, this is the first time in Kamen Rider history that chest belt and waist belt Riders will face off against each other, and each of the three belts is said to have its own distinct abilities. Transformation involves egg shaped key items called the Ride Exes (ライドエグズ), a name that reads just as easily as “Ride Eggz”, which would make it another cheeky pun for a series whose very title is one.
Zeztz’s influence shows up beyond the belt too. Ever since that series, Kamen Rider designs have leaned away from heavy, solid body armour in favour of flatter, on-suit detailing, and My-Th clearly continues the approach. Given how expensive Rider suits are to produce, we do wonder if this is a deliberate, and frankly rather smart, way to design Kamen Riders going forward.
You will not have to wait until September
Kamen Rider My-Th makes his early debut on the big screen in the upcoming film Kamen Rider Zeztz’s Farewell Mission, opening in Japan on 24 July 2026, before the series proper begins in September, airing Sundays at 9am JST (8am Singapore time) on TV Asahi.
tokuAsia will be watching this one with interest. A mouse who becomes a myth, hunted by cats, with eggs somehow in the mix? It is an odd combination of ideas on paper, and we are curious to see how it all comes together when the series arrives in September.
