EOY 2009 – An undoubted success on all fronts

It was a venture into the unknown for the tokuAsia team as we approached EOY 2009 as a partner of Custom Workz.

This was the first time we were directly involved with the public, and being the one and only Commercial Entity throughout the event, which had a costly entrance fee of S$15 (S$12 for pre-sale), our main objective became apparent – to increase the awareness in the local community on the existence of Custom Workz and its services.

It was no mean feat acquiring resources & personnel and planning for the event, especially on the part of Jonathan, owner of Custom Workz, who put all his best in making the Kamen Rider Decade suit and bringing back more items for display.

However, it was unfortunate that the suit’s armour could not be completed in time, and therefore a prototype of PVC had to be made to complete the suit in time for the event.

Last minute logistical complications and the hefty entry fee did not help either, as we feared a poor turnout compared to our knowledge of the previous year editions, but the team faced these obstacles with resolve and resilience.

A staggering 2,500 pieces of flyers were printed for the event, and almost all were given out together with the Custom Workz name card.

On the day itself, clad in red and black Custom Workz tshirt, Jonathan was made busy with people enquiring about services, especially with regards to the custom made helmets. Particularly a pleasant lady who enquired about the original pink ranger helmet.

Jason, a partner of Jonathan from Custom Workz, and the other staff of tokuAsia were made busy in front and behind the booth that had a huge banner being placed over it.

A number of enquires was also directed towards what Custom Workz specialize at; Sculpting, painting, moulding, reparing of toys services, in which customers are left satisfied with Jonathan’s expertise and professionalism.

At the end of the day, through a terrific display of professionalism and true character, our fears were quashed as a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction overwhelmed the team. All of which would never have happened without Custom Workz’s key involvement in this event, by providing the suits for the cosplay, and also, the products that went on sale at the event.

A nice to know is that we received feedback that the Custom Workz was the most impressive booth in the entire event, with our 3.6 meter long table being fully packed with seven Kamen Rider helmets, and other Tokusatsu toys.

With this event as the first major event to bring awareness to the public, the result was satisfactory. Custom Workz and tokuAsia now look forward in forging partnership to participate in future events, with more Kamen Rider suits to show!
