Singapore’s homegrown superhero comic Lionborne is back on Kickstarter. Creator Kang Jing (KJ) has launched a new campaign for Lionborne #1-2: Spirit Mutations Part I, giving fans the chance to back the second issue of the series and grab exclusive rewards along the way.

What Spirit Mutations Part I Is About

In Spirit Mutations Part I, Lionborne learns that Ada was not the only new Spirit Beast created by William Ashford. As new Spirit Mutants begin to emerge, Jayden Lee ventures into the belly of the beast, AshTech International, to uncover their origins, only to discover he is not prepared for what awaits him inside. Flashbacks woven throughout the issue also reveal how Simha, the Lion Spirit Beast, first met Jayden and chose him as his champion.

Each issue of Lionborne is a 28 page saddle-stitched single issue comic with 24 pages of story. According to the campaign, Issue #2 is already 100 percent completed and will go straight to print once the Kickstarter ends.

Reward Tiers and Exclusives

The campaign offers 10 reward tiers, starting from a S$10 Digital Warrior tier up to a S$400 tier that includes an original art cover. Backers can also pick up catch-up tiers bundling Issue #1 for anyone who missed the first Kickstarter, plus a 1to3 Comics exclusive variant cover illustrated by Amos the Fanboy.

Also returning is the Lionborne trading card series, with four new designs planned: one Kickstarter exclusive by KJ himself and three more by local artists @drawnbykaizu_, @alan.bay, and @jenosketch. As the campaign crosses backer milestones, new card designs unlock and get added free to every physical tier, meaning the more the campaign is shared, the more everyone gets.

Following Up on a Strong Debut

Lionborne first launched in 2026 with Issue #1, The Trial of Doves and Deer, which introduced Jayden Lee as the champion of Simha and set up his rivalry with William Ashford, the champion of the Spirit Devourer Olephis. tokuAsia reviewed the debut issue and spoke with KJ about building the Lionborne universe from the ground up, part of a growing wave of homegrown Singapore superheroes alongside the likes of Sacred Guardian Singa and Genforcer.

Shipping and Campaign Details

The campaign is all-or-nothing and must hit its funding goal by Monday, August 10, 2026, 9:00 PM AWST, or backers will not be charged. Shipping is handled with tracking to the US, UK, Europe, Australia, and Asia, and is free for backers based in Singapore.
